You have a recurring vision, hallucination, daydream. What is it?

Roll: 5,  A guiding voice that keeps you going.

What is your name?

Eiknar son of Eiman and Listanar. I am old, tired, my clothes are faded, my skin leathery and tough and my eyes are starting to grow dull.

Vessel

Name

By Night and By Time

Docks

Entry:

I can't remember how I got here. We’re far to the south passed the mountain bridge, but everything is still so familiar. I don’t know these people but they know me. I dreamed I was on the deck of my ship. I couldn’t move and birds were eating me alive.

The only thing I remember is leaving from the docks at the base of the mountain. I can’t even see it out here.

Ambonae to Ballour Reef

Glimmer Roll: 6, 2 = A metallic trinket

Entry:

Saw something shining in the water. It looked metal but metal doesn’t float. Tried to ignore it but it looked to similar to one of the hair trinkets she would have worn. I think it’s my eyes playing tricks. They aren’t any good any more.

Glimmer Roll: 6, 5 = A richer darkness than you expected

Entry:

My damned eyes are failing me again. Everything is too dark. Too dark to see even my hand in front of my face. I’m tired. Even the candle doesn’t go out too far in this darkness. I’m going to have to set anchor early and wake up early to make up for it.

These fish are all missing eyes. No. They don’t have eyes. It’s just smooth skin and scales. Best damn part of them is gone. I don’t think they’ll sell for much.

Damage: 0/3

Fish: 2/6, a few rare tropical fish

Moon Phase

Waxing Gibbous

You lose track of where you are and what you are doing. Narrate a flashback of a joyful time spent with your loss. Move to a random spot.

The first boat I inherited from my mother. She was among one of the best fishers, but always in the shadow of someone else.

When she retired we got the mirroring tattoos on our chest. Her fish went up and mine went down. She never said it, but she hoped that I would become greater than her. We both knew I wouldn’t, but she still loved me all the same.

Entry:

I can’t pay attention any more. I can’t see and I’m tired. I lost track of time and of what I was doing and I don't know where I am anymore. I’m somewhere out of nowhere near where I need to be. I’ll check the charts in the daylight.

Elder Reach, Fish Reserve 1

Fish: 3 + 1 = 4, no fish -1 Reserve

Entry:

No fish. No fish at all. The people on the dock said this is where they used to get all of them. But they aren't here any more. Overfished I suppose.

Fish: 2/6  a few rare tropical fish

Glimmer: 1

Moon: Waxing Gibbous

Elder Reach to Regardier

Glimmer: 6 , 3  A group of robed parishioners bury one of their members

Entry:

Saw something maybe I shouldn’t have. People in boats surrounding a large plank with a person in a funeral shroud tied to a pole. They set it on fire and watched it burn and sink into the water.

I don’t know if they were from the docks or not. I don’t think I should mention this to anyone else.

Glimmer: 4, 2 A rare sea mammal emerges from the depths and stares into your eyes

Entry:

I saw a whale today. Larger than I’ve ever seen before. It emerged and blew its spout before staring at me for a long long while. I pulled down the sails and watched it. We were just there, drifting together. I saw myself in the reflection of its eye. I look old. I look tired.

Regardier, Fish Reserve 2

Fish: 2 + 1 = 3, -1 Reserve

Fish: 6 + 1 = 7 +1 Fish, Unsettling -1 Reserve

Entry:

Just one fish today. One tiny little fish. I thought it was covered in algae from the sea, but it’s fur growing on the scales. I tried to pull some of it off but it won’t come off without damaging the fish.

Damage: 0/3

Fish: 3/6  a few rare tropical fish, 1 normal eating fish

Glimmer: 5

Moon: Waxing Gibbous

Regardier to Docks

Glimmer: 5, 2 In an instant day turns to night and back to day +3 Glimmer

Damage: 0/3

Fish: 3/6

Glimmer: 0

Moon: Waxing Gibbous

Moon Phase

Quarter Moon

The sky shows dozens of creatures hurling themselves at the vessel.

Narrate a flashback of a painful time you spent with your loss. Move to the docks.

The boat sank the same day she died. The ice was too thick out where I went but I thought I could get in one last catch. It splintered the woods and the hull and if I hadn’t brought a small rowboat with me I would have died too.

Everyone was waiting back on shore when I arrived. No one was surprised when I told them the boat sank. They thought that it was a sign that it could not live without her spirit.

I believed them at the time. I don’t know if I can anymore.

Entry:

They were everywhere! Everywhere in all directions, boarding and hurling and flying and shouting and screeching. Their eyes lit up the sea like stars and nothing would ever be silent again. And then it all went black.

Like someone put a bag over my head and someone was shaking me awake. Another fisher said the boat had drifted to shore and they found me on it.

Glimmer: 3

Moon: Quarter Moon

Regardier to Poisson D'etre

Glimmer: 6, 2 A rare fish circles you , taunting you

Entry:

I saw a skate circling the boat today. It was a biggun too. It would be worth a ton of money to bring it back to the docks, but it was too big for the boat, it would have torn it apart.

Glimmer: 4, 3 Violent thieves steal your fish -3 fish

Entry:

Even out here on the ocean nothing is safe. I was trying to fall asleep, in that twilight zone between awake and rest, when a bunch of dirty thieves broke in, locked me in the cabin and by the time I busted through the locked door all the fish were gone. Poisson D’etere better have enough fish for me.

Glimmer: 5, 1 You see the Loss floating in the choppy seas

Entry:

I saw the debris of my mother’s ship floating out there today. I think I’m losing it. I still haven’t gotten any sleep.

Glimmer: 6, 2 a large tentacle slaps the boat +1 Damage

Entry:

There’s something down there. There’s something big down there. I didn’t see all of it, but it saw me and it slapped my boat hard enough to do more damage to it. It felt like the entire boat lifted out of the water into the air for a second. There’s no leakage yet, but I don’t know how much more it will take.

Damage: 2/3

Fish: 0/6

Glimmer: 0

Moon: Waxing Crescent

Moon Phase

Waxing Crescent

Your loss appears on the vessel. Something looks wrong.

Narrate a flashback of the last time you saw your loss. Move the vessel to Solitude

She looked so healthy that day. She was up and about, doing chores, laughing and singing. She hadn’t looked so happy since Dad had died. I even remember thinking at the time how happy she looked.

I thought it was because she was finally retired and didn’t have to worry about keeping the boat afloat and she could spend all her time pretending to be a scary old woman, play-acting and scaring the local kids with stories about sea monsters and laughing while they pretended to scream.

I didn’t want to go out into the waters that day. I wanted to stay with her.

Entry:

She was on the deck. She looked younger than me but I knew it was her from the fish tattoo on her chest.

It wasn’t her in person, but a spirit of sorts. She was outlined in blue and silver and see-through like water.

Both the tattoo and her eyes glowed with a cold fire and she was gone.

Damage: 2/3

Fish: 0/6

Glimmer: 0

Moon: Waxing Crescent

Solitude, Fish Reserve 1

Fish: 5 + 1 = 6 -1 Fish Reserve

Entry:

I have lost my chance. I saw it--a worm, a sea snake, something that I’ve only heard about in legends. Something that my ancestors caught before they were driven into the mountains, something that should be long dead.

I held it in my hands, its entire body was as thick as a leather thong and it stretched a mile long down back into the ocean. It squirmed and I tried to hold onto it but it slipped down through my fingers into the sea.

There’s nothing here anymore.

Damage: 2/3

Fish: 0/6

Glimmer: 1

Moon: Waxing Crescent

Entry:

I can no longer tell what’s real or not. I can’t sleep. The moon is moving forward, the stars are swirling and I am tired. I’m so so tired. I’m more tired than I’ve ever been. I don’t know if I’ll make it back to the docks. It’s too far. It’s too far.

Damage: 2/3

Fish: 0/6

Glimmer: 0

Moon: Waxing Crescent

Moon Phase

New Moon

Your ship drifts away from the route into darkness. You know you’re headed into oblivion.

Narrate the last awful sight you see before you sleep.

Game Over

I see her standing in the water, knee deep and it laps up at her thighs. She’s waving at me, beckoning me to come closer and closer, and I see the worm emerge from the water and ensnare her legs.

The worm twists itself around her and is pulling her further and further into the waters. She’s screaming, she’s thrashing and falling underneath the waters.

I have to save her. I have to save her.

And I am in the water, swimming, sinking, freezing.

And it’s just too cold.
